Advice for doctors: Don't Wait to Provide for Men

The Massachusetts Medical Society now has a “Men's Health Committee” which is pushing the usual misnadrist crap about how men are to blame for the many longstanding problems that men have with the medical industrial complex. They have gotten an article published in the CNN Health Minute called Advice for men: Don't wait to see a doctor. Bob has some advice for the arrogant assholes of the medical industrial complex, Don't Wait to Provide Adequate Services for Men.
Men's health has been sorely neglected for all of the 20th century, and the 21st century has so far seen no improvement. A century ago the life expectancy of men was the same as women. In the 20th century, research funding has poured into diseases of women while funding for men's health has lagged behind. Men now die from all diseases at higher rates than females. The life expectancy of men is about 10% shorter than females, on average, in countries with modern “health care.” The response from the medical industrial complex has generally been a focus on furthering health care for females while continuing to neglect and abuse men. It is well that the Massachusetts Medical Society now has a Men's Health Committee, but it's a very small drop in a very large bucket, and doesn't appear to have actually done anything but blame men for their own massive failures.
Mike can tell you of the time he went to see a doctor because he had a sinus infection. He had to wait 4 days to see get on the doctor's appointment schedule. Mike took aspirin and over-the-counter decongestants during the days of waiting. By the time Mike found himself waiting in the doc's entry process his sinus infection was beginning to go away by itself. After an hour of leafing through year old magazines Mike was ushered into an inner room where he was told to sit in a chair that had a menacing looking headrest. The doctor came in and, without consultation or Mike's permission, started sticking probes up Mike's nose.
Like many patients Mike assumed the doctor knew his business and after waiting 4 days to see the doc, was hesitant to leap up and run out. That would have been the wise choice. Having gotten his sinuses reamed out, Mike was told to take some aspirin and come back in 3 days. It hurt to breath, it hurt with every breath, his upper nose was on fire. He could not sleep. The remnants of the original sinus infection was the least of his problems. In three days Mike's sinuses were finally healing up. He could breath without severe pain once more.
Being young and inexperienced with doctors and believing that he should follow medical advice Mike reported back to the doctor on the 3rd day. This time when the doctor broke out his tools to ream out Mike's sinuses, Mike got right up and left. The doctor and his nurse were left standing there around an empty chair. Mike learned another lesson about doctors.
Some years lager Mike was having a flareup of his gout. The AMA monopoly maintains strict control of medications by government sanctioned monopoly. In order to purchase medication for gout you have to have the permission of a government protected monopoly doctor, who makes you kowtow and pay for his permission.
It took Mike several days to get an appointment to see the doctor, and all the while his gout made walking very painful. Mike gets classic gout in his big toe. It swells up, gets hot, and hurts to walk. It can be treated easily with ant-inflammatory medications that work especially well if taken immediately when the flare up begins. If treated immediately the flareup usually goes away in two days. By the 3rd or 4th day, when the doctor condescended to be paid for permission to purchase medication, it was already going to be a long and painful three weeks.
Mike's company had changed Insurance providers since his last gout flareup so he was seeing a different doctor than last time. When the doctor finally disdained to visit the little room with the examination table where Mike had been forced to wait for an hour, Mike explained that he had these flareups off and on for years. All he needed, he said, was some gout mediation. No, said the doctor, not listening to Mike. We have to be sure what it is. We will need a lab test. The doctor went out and twenty minutes later someone else in a white coat came in bearing a large looking needle apparatus. We have to take a sample to test, he said, and stuck the needle into Mike's inflamed joint. Having a large needle stuck into an inflamed gout swollen joint is EXTREMELY painful. Mike didn't need that at all.
Another half hour later the doc came back and said that the test had confirmed gout. Mike told them that when he arrived, but the doc wouldn't listen. The doc finally condescended to allow Mike to purchase some medications, and even an extra supply so he could take some immediately next year if it flares up again. Mike was not pleased with the crappy monopoly grade services provided by the medical industrial complex. They had turned a two day inconvenience into a painful and debilitating 4 week ordeal while inflicting extreme pain. Some years later when the pharmacy refused to allow Mike to purchase any more gout medications without another new permission sheet from the Docs, Mike learned how to order it on-line from Mexico where they don't have government controlled monopolizes to bribe or die.
Stories like those of Mike can be heard from every man Bob has ever talked to. The medical industrial complex eschews the business of men, treats us like cattle, refuses to listen to us or our needs, won't provide services in a timely manner, and organizes their office process to be psychologically offensive to men while catering to females. And of course they still sexually mutilate more than a million little boys in the United States every year, a heinous barbaric crime that outnumbers all other violent crimes against children and all other violent sex crimes combined.
It's no different in any town or city you go to. The AMA, and the medical industrial complex caters to females and generally ignores the needs and health of men. The process of visiting a doctor is designed to be suitable for females, but is psychologically unacceptable to most men, according to various studies and the experience of men. Instead of revising their process to be suitable for men, the doctors blame the men.
In every city the hospitals advertise special departments for women. There are Women's Health Centers. But in several decades I have never seen or heard of a Men's Health Center at any hospital in any city. Maybe a men's health center exists somewhere, but there are women's health centers in every city. What message does that convey to men? Does it say “welcome men” or “we care about men”?
Now Ms. Judy Fortin, CNN Medical Correspondent, writes this misandrist hate piece blaming men for the ongoing and pervasive failures of the medical industrial monopoly to provide adequate services for men. She says that females are responsible while men are irresponsible and bad for avoiding the female centric medical monopoly. The misandrist bitch quotes, Dr. David Dodson, who is a self proclaimed expert on men's health at the Marino Center in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Dr. Dodson recommends that healthy men under 50 get a regular checkup every 18 months. After 50, he suggests, men should see their doctors annually.
If you read the web site of the Marino Center, you find their list of services.
Missing from their list are services for Men's Health. Yet CNN Bigot Ms. Fortin, and Dr. Dodson blame men while their own organization's web site proves that Men's Health services are not provided.

DALLAS, Texas (CNN) -- Holding a balloon and waving good-bye to doctors with his functioning arm, three-year-old Brandon Denny was wheeled out of a Dallas rehabilitation center Wednesday.
Brandon and his two-year-old sister, Rebecca, were two of six children in the federal building's day care center to survive the April 19th Oklahoma City explosion. Fifteen children were killed in the center, and another four died in other parts of the building. "They're absolute miracles. After looking at that building, they shouldn't be here," said father Jim Denny, who manages a shop that makes oil well drilling tools.
Brandon was hurt so badly his parents barely recognized him. His head was bandaged, and Denny could only see Brandon's eyes and nose. They searched among his bruises and found Brandon's red birthmark on his left thigh.
For the next 30 days, Denny and his wife, Claudia, didn't know whether Brandon would survive. Debris from the blast pummeled a hole in the upper left side of Brandon's forehead. Doctors operated four times on his brain, pocked with debris from the bombing. Today, the right side of his body can barely function and Brandon cannot walk or talk on his own.
Before the bombing, Brandon was a chatty 3-year-old, who talked in sentences, could recite his ABCs and count to 15. Now, Brandon can only utter noises, a giggle, a cry, and "ugh," "oooh" or "oh."
"After this happened, I forgot what Brandon was like before. I forgot what he sounded like when he talked," Denny said.
But his parents are thankful, and say they feel like the luckiest people on Earth. "If I can have a little boy to hug and kiss, I'm going to be happy, even if he can't kiss back," said Denny.
Brandon's sister, Rebecca, was also hospitalized for 10 days as surgeons removed glass and plastic pieces from the left side of her face, arms and leg. More than 100 stitches left little blue scars on her face.
At a party for a little girl at the rehabilitation center two weeks ago, Brandon seemed to mouth the words to "Happy Birthday," Denny said. The little boy can lift his right leg eight inches and his right arm about halfway, but he can't do much with his right hand. With a leg brace and a little push and support from his dad, Brandon can take a step.
But doctors don't know whether he'll ever be able to walk on his own or improve his speech. "Right now he's at 50 to 60 percent," said Dr. Frank McDonald, his primary physician in Dallas. "I don't think he'll ever make 100 percent. But he's going to grow and develop."
Ever since Brandon was transferred two months ago from an Oklahoma City hospital to Baylor Hospital's Pediatric Center for Restorative Care, Denny has been keeping vigil over his son. He moved into a Dallas hotel to be close by. And his wife, who worked at the Internal Revenue Service four blocks from the federal building, has been flying down most weekends with Rebecca.
At a news conference at the rehabilitation center Wednesday, Brandon squirmed in his wheelchair next to his sister and parents, played with a red toy phone and a little bottle of bubbles around his neck. With a cockeyed smile and dimpled cheeks, the blue-eyed boy giggled at photographers who made faces at him.
"How old are you?" a reporter asked. Brandon held up three fingers. "He understands everything that's going on around him, he just can't verbalize," Denny said.
The Dennys, who say the ordeal has brought them even closer as a family, are planning a trip to Disneyland next month and to the White House in September. "If he doesn't get better we'll be perfectly happy, but he will get better," Denny said. "Where there's life there's hope."

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (CNN) -- The bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building left a victim born three months after the April 19 explosion. Kylie Williams will never meet her father, but she will learn about him. Her widowed mother, Nicole, is seeing to that.
Scott Williams, a softball player with a soft heart, fell in love with Nicole the moment he saw her at a country and western dance hall. The next day he told his parents he met the woman he was going to marry. A year into their marriage, Nicole was six months pregnant when she called Scott at work and asked him to pick up a comforter for the baby's room. But first, he had to make a food delivery to the daycare center at the federal building. Their last words to each other, over the phone, were "I love you." (72K AIFF sound or 72K WAV sound)

Nicole knew her husband was dead, but it took two days for official notification. She dreaded hearing the telephone ring (128K AIFF sound or 128K WAV sound). For people in Oklahoma City not directly touched by the bombing, the tragedy is beginning to recede from memory. "I try not to think about it," says one man. "The atmosphere is still sad," says a woman, "but people are getting things back together." But for the living victims left behind by the nation's worst terrorist attack, the bombing remains unforgettable and unforgivable.

Bob, my opinion is MEN need to learn self-care. Before modern pharmaceuticals were invented, to increase our need for expensive health care, there were medicines. They were for the most part called herbs, and most of them are still available today, and usually without a prescription.
Most people won't need much expensive health care if they exercise (such as walking) and start a diet exactly the opposite of that recommended by the AMA, which recommends a low fat high carb diet.
Also, take vitamins in reasonable amounts. I tried for years to get my wife to take vitamins,and she refused, going to the doctor three or four times a year. Finally, she started vitamins, and goes about once every three years or so; which is three times as often as I go.
Of course, there may be some, such as those with gout, who can't follow a high fat; low carb diet. But, in general, learning to know yourself, and staying as far away from doctors is the best thing you can do. (My son in med school agrees.)
Some years ago, I went to a State University bookstore and bought a medical book, Krupp and Chatton; physicians desk reference. One of the authors is dead, but the book comes out every year. It lists all the standard illnesses and tells how to diagnose them.
What else? Oh, yes, did you know many sinus problems are caused by the use of decongestants, which cause yukky stuff to dry up inside your head? Doctors cause a lot of sinus problems with their treatments.
A man named Jethro Klaus many decades ago told how to snort warm water, with non-iodized salt added to a very low level, and you can clean out the sinuses by yourself in many cases.
My son (in medical school) reminds me from time to time how many people doctors kill every year. I think it's like a hundred thousand or so.

RE: child abuse statistics, the 66-year-old man who told us his son is in medical school 80 times is llena de caca. Not true. Men are overwhelmingly the abusers of children in our society, physically, emotionally, sexually. And guess what? The majority of doctors who perfom abortions are male.
I'm all for men's rights, but I see them differently than you do. The world is changing, and old men are dying. Going with many of them are old, destructive ideas about what makes a man a man and woman a woman. I figure Bob has 5-7 more years on this earth to spread his message. It sounds like he's not in good health so it could be sooner. I'm a 28-year-old guy, and have never heard anyone under 50 say anything like the stuff on this website. I'm interested because I found myself married to a total bitch and she is screwing up our kids. I just thought of 7) your son should sterilize wife or daughter if husband/father requests, even to include during another surgical procedure where the wife/daughter is knocked out and doesn't/won't know. I think this is a key point. Women always make such a big deal about controlling their feritility. How will they feel when it's out of their control?

Alcohol only causes a slight increase in the possibility of gout. It is significantly less likely than other causes. High fructose food additives are a much more likely contributing cause. This is from Wikipedia:

I talked to mike. He isn't a drinker. His gout may have been exacerbated by the "Pepsi Generation" consumption of soft drinks.
Regardless of the contributing factors or the particular illness, all patients should be treated with respect and dignity. Blaming men for medical malpractice does not point the medical business in the right direction.

I'm writing a paper with my study group on violent rhetoric and internet anonymity for a class. Many of the posts you've received over the last month have been from members of my class and their friends. I apologize if this has caused you any personal distress.
What we're studying in particular is the response of certain personality types to suggestions of extreme violence and humiliation when they do not have to answer to society, i.e., go by their real names. You've provided quite a few sample writings and were a good choice for that reason.
Again, I apologize if certain remarks were offensive to you. It is all in the name of science (psychology). It appears that certain of my classmates may have gotten a little out of hand with their language, and I have told them to knock it off.

The first thing you need to do is to take some remedial spelling classes and perhaps some grammar.
After many decades of experience and observation, I would be very surprised if Psychiatric professions do as much good, in aggregate, as the harm they do. Your wasting of your time on psychobabble is obviously already causing you harm. Take some good advice. Drop the nonsense class and focus on reality. And, do get those spelling and grammar classes. If the colleges had any standards left, you wouldn't have been admitted.
Perhaps you should also take a class in philosophy. You demonstrate no understanding of even the most basic concepts of honesty or honor.
You do know that women have a longer life expectancy because they are biologically stronger, right? It's the same reason why a larger percentage of girls survive their first year of life....

Prior to the 20th century and feminist discrimination against men, the life expectancy of men and women was always about equal. It still is in non-feminist dominated countries. Feminism and sexism are the reason for the shorter lifespan of men, not biological strength.
